Welcome to third grade! My name is Mrs. Brown and I am excited to be one of your teachers this year. In my block we will be learning math and science. I love both subjects and hope that each of you will enjoy them as much as I do. This year we will explore wonderful new topics that I hope will engage and challenge you. I can’t wait to get started!
I was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, but grew up in the small town of Tarboro which is located in Edgecombe County. Like you, I attended a school that was K-12, but mine was much smaller than EWA. Can you believe I only had 14 people in my class for my senior year of high school? Even though EWA is much larger, it still has the same family feeling that I had in school. That warm, family atmosphere was what led to my decision to send my own child to EWA. My daughter, Sarah, graduated from EWA in 2018 and is attending The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she will be a senior. She is a proud member of the Eagle Society since she attended EWA from Kindergarten through twelfth grade!
I have a BA in Early Childhood Education from The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill with a concentration in history. Before my daughter Sarah was born, I was a corporate trainer for Sprint. This will be my eighth year teaching third grade and my eleventh year at EWA. I have been married for 22 years and I have one daughter. We live in Zebulon.
I look forward to meeting each of you and getting to know you. I have high expectations for you and I know that you will learn and grow. I would like for you to know I am always here for you if you need me. Please come to me with your questions and concerns. Let’s work together to make third grade a terrific year!
